Operational Documentation for Ambulance Services: a CAA/PWW Training Event

CAA and PWW are teaming up to bring you a 4-hour training program on Medicare ambulance documentation from an operational perspective.  This unique event will cover the vital importance of effective call intake and the make-or-break role it can play in your organization’s revenue cycle and compliance. This outstanding live virtual training opportunity will also focus on specific documentation issues for scheduled/non-emergency transports and will address emergency-specific operational documentation requirements.  This training should be attended by EMS agency dispatch, operations, and revenue cycle staff who want to improve the operational aspects of their agency’s documentation.

Here is a high-level overview of the training:

Lesson 1, EFFECTIVE CALL INTAKE.  Call intake is a vital but sometimes overlooked step in patient documentation and care.  Learn the items that every successful call intake process should include and develop a better understanding of the PCS and ABN forms that are a key to successful billing.

Lesson 2, SCHEDULED TRANSPORT DOCUMENTATION:  Patient care is more than checking vitals and transporting the patient. Learn how detailed documentation is a requirement for reviewing claims for reimbursement. This hour will focus on scheduled, non-emergency and CCT transport documentation and provide you tools to develop more powerful narratives (and explain why a cookie cutter template is NOT part of good documentation).

Lesson 3, EMERGENCY TRANSPORT Documentation: Continuing on the theme of documentation, this lesson will discuss some key distinctions between scheduled and emergency transport (and some similarities).   Learn methods used to develop detailed narratives which help "paint a picture" of the services provided during transportation.  Also develop an understanding of the some unique circumstances that can create “speed bumps” in your revenue cycle, such as non transports, patients deceased on scene, transporting other agency crew members or flight crews, and much more!

Qualifies for 4 hours of elective CE for CAC, CAPO and CACO certifications.
