BENEFITS OF MEMBERSHIP

CAA Listserv: The CAA’s listserv is a benefit for CAA member companies only. It is an easy to use tool that allows members to discuss issues and ideas specifically related to the ambulance industry. For example, the Payer Issues listserv is used by CAA member companies’ billing personnel to exchange tips and tricks for managing the complicated billing landscape. This listserv gives you access to some of the brightest minds in the State regarding ambulance billing. For more information on CAA listservs, please email [email protected] or subscribe to the listserv in your member profile.

Marketing advantage: CAA membership communicates credibility and professionalism. Because our application process is thorough, membership in the CAA means something to your customers. Members use the CAA logo on their websites, business documents and letters to demonstrate that they meet the standards established by the association. Our -year reputation of representing, educating and advocating for private ambulance companies can speak for you.

Leadership on Statewide Legislative and Regulatory Issues: Every year, bills are introduced and regulations written that could have a negative impact on private ambulance service. We analyze the impact of these bills or regulations and then work with regulators and legislators to protect our members’ interests. Our legislative advocacy program includes member needs assessment, policy analysis, position development, grassroots activities, lobbying and political action to see changes made for the benefit of our members and their patients. We also have a robust regulatory affairs program with CAA staff and leadership serving on every statewide committee, task force and work group that is developing EMS policy to ensure that the private ambulance perspective is considered and protected. We also conduct proactive statewide activities to build alliances and assure collaboration with other stakeholder groups.

Member Discounts: We have agreements in place or in development for member-only discounts on a variety of products that can save you serious money. Tell us what discounts you want and we will try to make that happen. In addition, the member cost for CAA-sponsored events is dramatically discounted compared to non-member cost.

Industry News and Member Communication: CAA members receive news and information bulletins, which provide a comprehensive spectrum of summarized information relevant to the ambulance industry. Periodic “Member Updates” are also distributed providing relevant information that can affect member's businesses including updates from Medi-Cal and Medicare, State EMS Authority programs, changes to state and federal laws, legislation in process, and activities CAA is undertaking on members’ behalf. Time-sensitive information requiring some activity are sent separately as “Member Alerts.”

Membership Engagement: The CAA has dedicated committees addressing strategic issues and member-specific challenges. We hold general membership forums to discuss and shape policy and strategic objectives and provide networking events where professionals share innovations, find solutions and stay competitive. We encourage members to participate at your discretion in board meetings and committees and help guide the activities the association undertakes.

Education: We offer educational webinars throughout the year that will keep your staff up-to-date on billing issues, state requirements, health care reform, community paramedicine, data collection, patient and provider safety, and much more. We will work to provide a training seminar on any topic that our members tell us they would like to see.

Meetings and Conferences: The CAA hosts at least 2 events per year to inform and connect with our members and our partners in the EMS community. These include:

  • Annual Stars of Life Celebration and Legislative Summit in Sacramento featuring recognition of top field personnel and meetings with legislators
  • Annual Convention featuring targeted seminars, workshops, forums, networking and exhibits

Business Support: In addition to giving you access to our robust On-line Resource Library with growing collection of ambulance-specific information, we can be your research department. CAA staff can find answers to questions about the ambulance market and payers that would take your staff time to research. We analyze policy reports from research organizations and regulators and share that information, and we conduct surveys of our members and the broader ambulance community to collect information that would be valuable to you as well as to statewide policy-makers. In addition, we have access to attorneys specializing in EMS issues who will provide answers to general legal questions at no additional cost to you.
